SEPTA Survey and Design of Catenary
for Carmel Interlocking Project

SEPTA Carmel Interlocking

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority’s (SEPTA) R5 rail line, which services Philadelphia’s suburbs, carries over 5 million passengers a year. To improve service along this line and reduce the number of delays, SEPTA had replaced the track and signals, but the overhead catenary system at Carmel Interlocking remained. In preparation for renewal of the catenary system, DRM International in conjunction with Gannett Fleming, Inc. made a detailed survey of the catenary system around the Carmel Interlocking. DRM International, Inc. provided CADD / Drafting and cost estimating services.
